Many resorts that dot this scenic destination have made significant upgrades and improvements – totaling more than $200 million – to both their golf courses and hotels. Among those, the Sea Pines Resort re-opened the Harbour Town Golf Links clubhouse after a substantial renovation. Also, The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort recently completed a $30 million renovation that focused on all aspects, while the two on-site hotels at Palmetto Dunes – the Omni Hilton Head Oceanside Resort and the Hilton Head Marriott Resort & Spa – invested millions in enhancements.
From the Terminal to the Tee
How nice would it be to stow the winter coat and scarves in the suitcase upon arrival, and show up to the first tee at Hilton Head Island in a golf shirt and slacks? It’s fairly easy from many locales, especially those up north. JetBlue Airways is currently running special non-stop flights from Boston and New York City to Savannah / Hilton Head International Airport (SAV). Allegiant Air also flies non-stop into Savannah /Hilton Head from Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and other cities. Fourteen other locales offer non-stop service to SAV including Chicago, Detroit, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

While most of the country is shivering and shoveling snow, those on Hilton Head Island are enjoying sunshine and mild temperatures. Most would think it’s pleasant throughout the state, but Hilton Head Island is typically warmer than any other locale in South Carolina, especially those on the coast. January is the coldest month on the island, with an average high temperature of 60 degrees. The hottest month is July, where the average high is a reasonable 89 degrees.
